Capstone Project

Harman Harmonica

A person with long dark hair and glasses is smiling while wearing white over-ear headphones, standing outdoors with a blurred background of trees and buildings.

Problem

Headphones can block our timely reactions to emergencies, broadcasts, and greetings, reducing our responsiveness in ever-changing environments. As a result, you need to take on and off headphones frequently at conversations, outdoor walks, or waiting at terminals.

Approach

The team followed a human-centered design process, collecting feedback and insights as they iterated and evaluated their prototypes.

Solution

Harmonica is a Machine Learning powered real-time software solution which monitors, predicts, and reacts to its surroundings. This gives any pair of headphones acoustic ambience capabilities with no extra hardware needed.
