Problem

Eastrail is a beloved 42-mile trail system in Seattle's Eastside suburbs. It currently faces challenges impacting user experience, safety, and community engagement.

Approach

The team completed 19 interviews, gathered 1,145 survey responses, and had 4 expert insights to better understand the problem they were trying to solve.

Solution

Nature Store is an interactive installation that captures information about passing hikers and contains a display of local flora and fauna. The team also developed a mobile app that shows the current traffic running through a trail.
