Melroy D’Souza

Melroy D'Souza is a UX strategist, thought leader, and former UX Director with 23 years at Microsoft, where he led research and business strategy across enterprise search, security, identity, technical skilling, Responsible AI, and AI-enabled products — including Exchange Server, SharePoint, Office, Bing, and Worldwide Learning. Most recently, he advised Walmart's AI Commerce team on trust and governance in AI-assisted shopping. Earlier, he led Human Factors Engineering at Gateway Computers, driving strategic decisions on hardware product design and accessibility.
An Adjunct Professor at the University of Washington's Information School since 2024, D'Souza teaches applied design methods and mentors student teams and entrepreneurs from early ambiguity to confident product direction.
He holds a PhD and MS in Industrial Engineering/Human Factors Engineering with a Minor in Experimental Stats from Clemson University and a BE in Production Engineering from the University of Mumbai. Outside of work, he's active in community and nonprofit volunteer work, drawn to causes where he can give back and help others grow.
