Capstone Project

Robo Scrubber

Problem

Sound Transit subway elevators suffer from unsanitary conditions due to limited janitorial staff and reliance on external vendors, causing delays and increased maintenance costs. High passenger traffic requires a fast and minimally disruptive cleaning solution.

Approach

The team designed a semi-autonomous robot controlled via a simple web interface, integrating computer vision to detect and classify waste for targeted cleaning.

Solution

The robot uses real-time data processing and human-in-the-loop supervision to ensure safe, efficient cleaning in high-traffic areas, reducing elevator downtime and improving sanitation.
