Capstone Project

Stockbot

A person interacts with a robot arm, placing or adjusting an object on a table. The arm is labeled fetch. A laptop is open nearby, and another individual is blurred in the background. The setting appears to be a workshop or lab.

Problem

Equipment management consumes a large amount of labor at many companies, including warehouses, factories, laboratories, hospitals, and libraries. Employees spend a lot of time searching, fetching, transporting, delivering, retrieving, managing, and organizing equipment

Approach

Team StockBot conducted several usability tests to determine how end users interact with the mobile delivery robot and web interface.

Solution

Using the Fetch Mobile Manipulator, the team created a delivery robot that can pick up and transport a tray of items, navigate to a desired location, and deposit the storage tray.Additionally, they used the Kinova Gen3 Robotic arm to load these storage trays, and created a web interface to request and return items.
